OmniBride™ & TWC: New Beginnings & Fond Farewells
The Wedding Chat has been a labor of love and a launching pad to something new and exciting for the entire online wedding community. You see we discovered a black hole…
As bloggers in the wedding industry we adore the vast blogosphere but, for a while, have felt such a deep void when attempting to research and find great content. Oh, we know it’s out there. In fact we take pride in the topics we’ve covered. But think about it-when you try to find something it’s often a time-consuming, hit-or-miss experience. There is so much valuable information out there and searching is like drifting aimlessly out in space.
Well, our frustration turned into opportunity. We connected with some tech virtuosos to help us create OmniBride, the first search-find-share destination solely for the wedding industry.
Our mission was to bring the entire online wedding community together so none of us has to wander aimlessly through the Internet to find great ideas, inspirations and resources.
We are just beginning to officially launch OmniBride and say a fond farewell to The Wedding Chat. We are sad for TWC to end as it has been steadily growing in popularity but feel our mission to bring together the entire online wedding community is the best use of our energies. We felt it even more when blogger Kelly Gribben, Keg Design, landed on us while she was randomly checking her site meter…”I discovered OmniBride as a referring site and one that is solely devoted to wedding-related things. What a cool concept! It’s definitely something the online wedding community can use.” We hope you think so too!
For brides: You’ll find that OmniBride is the most comprehensive destination for researching and planning your wedding.
For bloggers: Your voices will be heard by an exponentially greater audience. If the community loves your content, your stats will grow—and so will your fan base.
For industry: You have the opportunity to find out what the online wedding community is saying (or not saying) about your goods and services. You can engage in the community dialogues.
For journalists: This is your tool for researching and uncovering the latest buzz and resources.

You have the power to rate the value of a search result by either “loving” or “trashing” it so, unlike a general search engine, the community determines what rises to the top. So participate often and let your voice be heard throughout the wedding universe!

But there’s more to OmniBride—check out our feeds for the daily news and the most current wedding-related contests and giveaways. And if it’s being talked about—we’ll find it!
You may have noticed that this is a BETA version of OmniBride. This means that Version 1 is ready for take-off. But our vision doesn’t end here—count on an explosion of features and functions in the near future. For now, enjoy your exploration…and let us know about your experiences of finding it in the wedding cosmos.
Must Have Bridal Hair Accessories – Etsy ChitChat
In February 2009, I blogged handmade purses from ETSY–one of the best places to find handmade wedding items. Another beautiful accoutrement for brides found at ETSY is hair accessories. The right one can just complete THE look!
Hair accessories are widely varied. Traditionally, they were tiaras with beading and crystals. But nowadays, more and more brides are going with feathers and hand-cut-silk-petal flowers embellished with beautiful crystals and pearls. Here are a few of my favorite ETSY hair accessory artisans. You can’t go wrong with any of them!
My first pick is MIKIYE CREATIONS. Mikiye’s work is nothing short of EXTRAORDINARY. I only wish I were getting married to use one of her custom flowers in my hair. She uses feathers, crystals, beading, pearls, and hand-cut silks to create beautiful hair flowers for brides–and bridal parties, as well. I have some of Mikiye’s pieces, and believe me, they are even more gorgeous in person. Mikiye has great customer service and really tries to create something innovative, unique, and stylish that the bride is going to want to accent her beautiful wedding gown. The great thing is that these hair accessories will also go well for an evening out. Many designers try to copy Mikiye’s creations, but buy the original, and you won’t be disappointed!
Who hasn’t heard of TWIGS & HONEY? Myra Kim Callan is an amazing designer of wedding day accessories. She doesn’t just do hair accessories, but she does boutonnieres, cute tulle boleros, and more. She’s gaining a lot of popularity among brides and bridal salons. She’s super sweet and a wonderful artisan. Myra models her own creations, which I think is awesome. Even one of my clients who ordered my clay flower bouquet also ordered two of Myra’s creations with the birdcage veil (seen below). Her attention to detail is remarkable.
LO BOHEME is another one of my favorites–their use of various types of feathers, crystals, and colors is beautiful, modern, and chic! More and more brides can be seen wearing these creations. The photos below are some of their custom order pieces!

Stylish Handbags for your wedding! – Etsy ChitChat
Are you looking for something stylish yet unique and handmade? Look no further than one of the best places to find handmade wedding items – ETSY!
Who doesn’t love handbags? What better way to show off your style with these lovely handbags from artisans around the world. Regardless of your budget, ETSY has some of the cutest and most stylish handbags out there.
My first pick is Leigh Anne Kline. She incorporates beautiful fabrics, feathers and crystals to create elegant handbags for the most perfect evening out and more importantly your wedding day. Leigh-Ann’s bags have been featured in Inside Weddings magazine several times alongside the likes of Badgley Mishka designer handbags!
Another wonderful purse designer whose work is perfect for bridesmaids and even the bride is Red Ruby Rose. She makes beautiful clutches in different fabrics and patterns. Prices range from $75-$105, and although she sells out of the UK, her shipping prices to the US are very reasonable at $5.00 and if you order more than one piece, she only adds $2.00 per additional items.
What’s great about these purses is that they are something you can use well after your wedding day. They’d look great even with a white t-shirt and jeans! If the few below are a little pricier than you want to spend, especially for your bridesmaids.
Another great designer is Girl…by Eileen. She allows you to design your own bridesmaid clutches and the prices range from $38 if you use your own fabric to $52.00.
Lou Lou Bell Handmade, prices range from $18-30.00. You can get these cute little coin or lipstick purses in a set of 3 for $30.00. She’s located in Nova Scotia, but again, shipping is quite reasonable starting at $4.25. This is perfect for the bride wanting to give a little something to her bridesmaids without breaking the bank. Lou Lou Bell offers some great fabric designs and colors that are both cute and chic!
Fiaz Co., prices for these bags are about $65 a purse and are well worth the splurge to satisfy your purse craving. These bags are especially great for destination wedding brides with her vibrant floral printed fabrics. She can even personalize the inside label for each bridesmaid! How cute is that!?

A gift that will make your bridesmaids smile!
Instead of the same ol’ matching necklaces…instead, you can give all of your bridesmaids matching baubles for their fingers or wrists that they will wear…and thank you again and again! A fantastic selection of cocktail rings, bangles, cuffs, and bracelets can be found through online retailers, such as Max and Chloe, and believe it or not, QVC! Both retailers have one of my personal favorites, KENNETH JAY LANE RINGS, that vary from high fashion bling to sophisticated elegance. Prices range from $35 to $250. As you can see, there is something sophisticated and flashy for everyone’s budget!

Fashion and cocktail rings currently available through QVC online - www.QVC.com
